At the Show-Me Rockhounds meetings we usually have programs given by members or a guest speakers. We help identify rocks and minerals that are brought to the meeting. We have show and tell where members or visitors bring in rocks, minerals and fossils, talk about them and show them to the group.

Prior events and activities:

The club went on a field trip to the Copper Valley Mine (formerly the Cornwall Mine), now owned by Art Hebrank, he allowed collecting there by appointment. Anyone interested had to sign up by July 15th for a dig date to be Aug. 9th. The mine tailings contain malachite, azurite and other copper minerals, calcite and quartz. The mine is located between Farmington and St. Genevieve in Missouri. Members who went found varieties of some of those minerals and brought some of their finds to the August 16th meeting to show to the group.

The Show-Me Club had a T-shirt design contest to come up with something to represent our club with our logo on it. The contest was won by Amy Larrance and she received a $50.00 award. We then had T-shirts printed up. Members received one free T-shirt and could purchase any additional shirts if desired.

We have had a series of rock and mineral sales, for members and other collectors, from a 50 year collection, purchased by the club.

In November 2024 the club had a booth at the KCI Expo Center to sell items by members and for the club.

We had two show cases of items for sale at the Brass Armadillo in 2024.

In October 2024 at the Ozark Gem and Mineral Society Show, we had a display and sales booth for the club and also a Fluorescent Mineral Display.

At the March 2024 Gem and Mineral Show, sponsored by the Association of Earth Science Clubs of Greater Kansas City. Dan Snow provided a special exhibition of Fluorescent Minerals for the 6th year in a row.
